From humble beginnings in
1927, Cats Protection has grown to become the UK's leading feline welfare charity. We now help around 200,000 cats and kittens every year through our network of over 250 volunteer-run branches, 29 adoption centres and two homing centres.

The Colne Valley Branch covers a broad area including the postcodes of CM7, CM77 and CO9.

We are a small branch run by a committee of volunteers and our primary aim is to safely and appropriately rehome cats and kittens within our area. We also carry out trapping/vaccinating and neutering of feral cats before releasing them back to a safe place. We do not have a central rehoming shelter, so our cats in care are placed with our small team of dedicated fosterers in and around the North Essex area.

We also seek to alleviate the problem of unwanted cats, by offering information and advice about responsible cat ownership and promoting the benefits of neutering and are often able to assist towards the costs of this.

We also try and promote responsible cat ownership through education and information, so if you would like our volunteers to come into your workplace to do a presentation, please contact us.

If you would like to volunteer to help within the branch, we would love to hear from you! Please email us here.

Did you know if you are on a low income, benefits or pension and need a neutering voucher, we may be able to help! Please email neutering@colnevalley.cats.org.uk
